    Amazingly Beautiful and Unique’

    Once chosen to be the summer capital of the British Empire, Ranikhet, is amazingly beautiful and is surrounded by dense Oak and deodar forests that house several sparse wildlife species. Its literal meaning is ‘Queen’s Meadow’ and it is believed that place was the residencial town of Rani Padmini.
     Located in the Almora district of Uttrakhand, this mesmerizing destination is the headquarter of Kumaon Regiment of Indian Army. Place offers too much to the travelers; cool and calm climate, trekking routes, Naina Devi Peak, orchards, ancient temples, golf courses and much more. The amazing beauty and ambience of the place makes it a unique hill station.

    Must Visits: Jhula Devi Temple, Chaubatia Orchards, Majhkhali, Kalika, Bhalu Dam, Golf Course, Kumaon Regiment Centre Museum, Mankameshwar Temple, Manila and Dwarahat. 

    Adventure: Camping, Mountaineering, Trekking and Mountain biking options are available in Ranikhet. 

    Wildlife : The forests surrounding Ranikhet is the home to several wildlife species such as the Leopard, Mountain Goat, pine marten, red faced monkey, red fox, jackal, Indian hare and barking deer. Summers here are amazing for bird watching.

    Food: Cuisines prepared with Uttrakhand flavor are always a treat, specially  local cuisines like Ras (a dish made with several dals), Arsa (a sweet dish), Baadi, Bhatt ki Churkani, Aloo ke Gutke, Gulgula (a sweet snack) and Baal Mithai . Don’t forget to try these.

    Shopping: Right from the woolens to handicrafts and food items, Ranikhet offers a lot to shop. Don’t forget to taste and carry the famous ‘Baal Mithai’ (sweet dish), the specialty of the place.

    How to Reach Ranikhet?

    By Air:
    There is no Airport in Ranikhet. Nearest Airport is Dehradoon Airport, which is 151 kilometers away. Whereas Delhi Airport is 244 kilometers away, and is well connected with rest of the world.

    By Train:
    Ranikhet does not have any railway station. Nearest railway station is Kathgodam which is 43 kilometers away.

    By Road:
    Direct bus service is available from nearby major cities. You may also self drive or hire a cab, as place is well connected with roads.
